Electronic Systems Certified – Designer (ESC-D) Exam

This certification is for established, career smart home professionals who have a strong technical background and experience designing and managing technology systems in the home. Most candidates have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience and including direct experience working with clients and related design professionals through all stages of the a project. This certification is the natural next step after the IST certification and assesses candidate's ability to apply their understanding of technical concepts to make informed design decisions. As CEDIA's highest certification, the Designer represents a significant career milestone for smart home professionals and can be used to highlight an individual's broad expertise and professionalism. The exam covers the following areas: 1. Needs Assessment 2. Project Design 3. Design Documentation 4. Design Management. The IST is recommended as a prerequisite to the ESC-D but not required.
