For Josh.ai, CEDIA Expo/CIX Provides the Stage to Tell Its Biggest Story of the Year

Published: May 20, 2026

Founded in 2015, Josh.ai is a Denver-based company creating platforms and products that aim to enable true natural interaction with technology in everyday life. The company does this through novel uses of voice interfaces for control and AI for natural language processing and contextual awareness.

A pioneer in the voice control category, Josh has continued to expand upon that legacy by being one of the foremost users of AI within custom integration, using bleeding-edge tech to continually refine the client experience while also improving the dealer experience, transforming what was once a simple voice assistant into a robust control platform.

The brand’s innovation was what got it recognized in the first place, and it’s what has allowed it to appear within so many award-winning systems over the years. It required Josh to start with a finger on the pulse of the industry, and now, over a decade later, the company still finds it needs that vital metric to keep forging ahead.

A High-Visibility Environment for Startups and Innovators

While well known by integrators today, Josh.ai wasn’t always a household name. Once upon a time, it was a small startup with Co-Founders Alex Capecelatro and Tim Gill looking to transform the way smart home interfaces worked. Only one issue: they needed a forum where their product could be seen.

This brought the duo to CEDIA Expo’s Startup Row (now the Launchpad) back in 2016, kickstarting a longstanding tradition of the company showcasing at the annual trade show.

“Since Josh.ai introduced itself on Startup Row in 2016, CEDIA Expo has always served as a special event for our team to rally around,” says Casey Levy-Tulloch, Director of Business Development at Josh.ai.

For Josh, the show provided a stage upon which it could introduce itself to custom integration; however, since then, it has served as a platform for the company to continually highlight new innovations and product releases over the years.

Awards Provide Continuous Rewards and Recognition

The numerous awards programs hosted at the show provide another avenue of visibility and recognition for Josh.ai, with the company frequently taking home honors for its new (and sometimes existing) products.

Most recently, the company’s AI X OS was celebrated as a finalist for the CEDIA Best New Software Award, while the next-generation Josh One system processor was recognized as a finalist for Best New Hardware.

Additionally, the Josh Edge remote was awarded the 2025 CE Pro Best Award for Best User Interface in Control and Automation.

Adding to the honors, Josh.ai’s very first hardware product, the Josh Micro, was inducted into the CEDIA Hall of Fame, cementing its legacy as a pioneering force in AI-driven smart home technology.

“CEDIA Expo is the biggest and most important event of the year for Josh.ai,” Levy-Tulloch explains. “It’s the only convention our team exhibits at, which makes it a highly focused and intentional investment in our marketing, branding, and sales strategy. We concentrate our resources and most exciting product launches around this annual event to maximize impact.”

Close to Home for More Intimate Engagements

The proximity of CEDIA Expo to Josh.ai’s headquarters has also provided a unique opportunity for the company to make the most of the show each year, hosting training events, happy hours and tours as dealers visit for the show.

“The show not only serves as a barometer to assess our annual goals, but also as a valuable opportunity to learn and network with the most innovative minds in the industry,” Levy-Tulloch adds.

“It serves as both a brand showcase and a strategic working summit where we deepen relationships, strengthen our dealer network, gather real-time market insight, and align on the future of the smart home.”

“From a sales perspective, it accelerates pipeline development and reinforces our position as the premium AI-powered control platform for custom integration. From a branding standpoint, it’s where we tell our biggest story of the year.”
