CEDIA Certified Integrated Systems Technician (IST) Exam

This certification is for experienced technicians to showcase their all-around knowledge and skills related to the installation of smart home technology systems. Technicians at this level can work independently to perform all functions related to the pre-wire and trim-out phases of a project including troubleshooting common errors and verifying system functionality. Certified technicians follow best practices to properly mount and install a wide range of home technology equipment in racks and throughout a residence. They understand the basic concepts of how audio, video, and communication and control devices work, and perform the basic configuration of various integrated systems and equipment. This certification helps individuals and companies enhance their professional profile and business prospects by showcasing their technical expertise.

Note: to enter the testing area on exam day, students must bring two forms of ID and have completed their exam application online. After registration, students will be emailed by the CEDIA Certification team with specific instructions on completing their exam application. As a prerequisite, candidates must either have 3 years of related experience or 1 year of experience plus the CIT certification.
