FISHERS, Ind. (JULY 11, 2019) – As part of an extensive selection of educational offerings at this year’s CEDIA Expo, three of the biggest names in home theater integration will offer an unparalleled learning opportunity. The CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass — featuring Imaging Science Foundation founder Joel Silver, Grimani Systems President Anthony Grimani, and TK Theatres and RAYVA founder Theo Kalomirakis — will provide an in-depth examination of several key topics.
The CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass will cover video performance, advanced audio technique, and cinema environment topics. It will be held on September 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the second day of the 2019 CEDIA Expo in Denver.
“The bar for educational offerings at CEDIA Expo continues to be raised and the CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass is a one-of-a-kind opportunity,” said CEDIA Senior Director of Education, Samantha Ventura. “Attendees will have unmatched access to three of the industry’s brightest minds in an engaging, day-long format. To be able to learn from Anthony Grimani, Joel Silver, and Theo Kalomirakis, at one time, covering so many aspects of home cinema design, is an experience we are so proud to offer this year. If you’re a veteran integrator looking to take a deep dive, you won’t want to miss this session.”
Silver’s portion, titled “How bright does a projected image need to be?,” will detail the impact of emerging video standards and technologies on desired home cinema brightness levels, with a focus on HDR in a projection-based environment. Silver is the 2018 CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
Grimani will explore and discuss various options for managing bass performance for multiple seats. The section will also examine the influence of room layout and construction on achieved bass performance. Grimani is a CEDIA Fellow and has worked on more than 1,000 theater projects throughout a 34-year career at Dolby, THX, and PMI.
Kalomirakis will share his experience balancing performance, aesthetics, and usability in a high-end home cinema, exploring room construction, layout, interfaces, and environmental controls. Kalomirakis, known as “The Father of Home Theatre,” has designed private cinemas for movie stars, sports legends, and world leaders.
A question-and-answer session featuring the experts will follow their presentations. Some 125 education sessions will be offered during CEDIA Expo — 57 sessions, including the CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass, are new for 2019.
CEDIA Expo will run September 10-14 at the Colorado Convention Center. More than 20,000 home tech professionals and over 500 exhibitors are expected to convene for the leading event in connected technology. You can connect to more at cediaexpo.com.
