A bit of background. Early in life, Dave Tkachuk (Symbol Logic’s founder) noticed that anything worth building required a plan, a design, or a sketch. A grammar school friend recently found a sketch that Dave had created at the age of twelve laying out the plan for building a neighborhood radio station. Throughout his life Dave realized that projects were much more successful by first having a plan. As an audio product manufacturer, he had to create plans, not only to confirm that the design would work, but for his coworkers to know exactly how to build it.
This led to forming Symbol Logic which originally operated alongside Dave’s existing AV integration company. Without any useful AV installation drawings, symbols, or standards yet available, Symbol Logic set out to develop an effective yet efficient AV drawing process and symbol-set using Visio to get the necessary wiring diagrams and documents quickly into the hands of installers. It was an arduous journey which took decades to get it right: creating, recreating, and refining the necessary drawing components and software that would match the AV project installation phases: Design, Wire, Engineer, Build.
