FISHERS, Ind. (May 6, 2019) – CEDIA has released an updated ESC-D exam — the test to earn the global organization’s highest certification credential. The improvements follow a rigorous review and feedback process that involved more than 100 participants with heavy input from industry professionals from throughout the world.
The ESC-D is targeted at industry veterans with at least five years of experience, particularly those with backgrounds as designers. The comprehensive effort to update the ESC-D exam included a Job Task Analysis Survey, beta exam, and direct engagement from a core group of volunteers. The exam’s content better aligns with the scope and demands of the profession and is crafted from a more global perspective.
“CEDIA undertook the revision after extensive examination of best practices for professional certifications,” said CEDIA Director of Certification David Whitney. “The truly global collaboration that went into updating the ESC-D exam brought together a wide swath of key industry stakeholders. We offer a big thank you to the volunteers on the Certification Working Group for their many hours invested into this project. Passing the exam marks a significant career achievement for any CEDIA professional.”
CEDIA recommends that individuals interested in earning the ESC-D Certification first earn the ESC-T Certification. More than 50 people earned or renewed their ESC-D Certification during a testing event in April. CEDIA provides an online toolkit to help prepare prospective test takers, which includes a Job Task Analysis & Exam Blueprint, Advanced Residential Electronic Systems Book, and Exam Preparation Resource Guide.
Exams will continue to be offered in conjunction with CEDIA training events and through Kryterion’s 1,000+ international test centers, which makes the program accessible to everyone throughout the year. To learn more about CEDIA Certification visit www.cedia.net/certification.
