ALPHARETTA, GA, December 11, 2025 — Lighting has the capacity to transform the look and feel of a room with the flick of a switch or a voice command. That same power was reflected at CEDIA Expo/CIX earlier this year in the conversations, education sessions, and exhibitor showcases that revealed six emerging trends now shaping how homeowners and businesses view lighting. Attending the show remains one of the most effective ways to stay ahead of these shifts and position your business as a trusted advisor for your customers and clients.
Lighting fixtures can make a statement — The design and crafting of a signature fixture can make a bold and compelling statement that sets the tone for everything else in the room. Stark and minimalist or warm and softer-toned, the materials, scale and design of the fixture are among the first things that designers and homeowners should consider.
Materials are becoming more diverse — The choice of materials has broadened significantly in recent years, and that has led to creative coups by designers such as Lindsey Adelman, who uses resin, handblown glass and 3D printed metal components to deploy organic, sculptural lighting in her designs.
Lights are smart and adaptive — The behind-the-scenes technology allows designers and homeowners to use a broader gamut of colors, tweak a room according to ambient light and/or use cases and synchronize with other technologies like televisions, music systems, shading and more.
Integrations are becoming seamless — Once a designer needed a programmer, but now those integrations have broadened to include more in-room technologies (and your phone). They’re also seamless, enabling automations and scenes, and they’re easier to access and use.
Lighting is now layered — It’s no longer “One and Done!” Instead, designers are deploying more lights, including different types, colors, and tones. Under-cabinet, in-soffit, sconce, recessed strips, and accent lighting allow designers to add layers, nuance, and function if a need arises.
Energy efficiency is easy — Thanks largely to the advent of LED lighting, fixtures are now significantly more sustainable than they were previously. And it’s easier to recycle!
“We’re living through a golden age of lighting,” explains Jason McGraw, Group Vice President and Show Director of CEDIA Expo/CIX. “Designers, integrators and homeowners are creating incredible spaces and exceptional experiences in the home and in commercial environments.”
Among the Lighting Pavilion exhibitors at CEDIA Expo/CIX were a range of innovators in architectural and linear lighting that included WAC/AiSPiRE, SUNLIGHT2, and PureEdge Lighting. Leaders in outdoor and landscape illumination such as Garden Light LED, Oelo Lighting Solutions, Brilliance LED, and Lighting BOSS highlighted cutting-edge exterior solutions, while Environmental Lights demonstrated advancements in energy-efficient lighting systems. BTX Window Automation, BLINDSPACE, and Light and Shade Solutions showcased advanced shading technologies that elevate comfort, efficiency, and seamless integration within modern lighting environments.
In the area of smart and automated control, exhibitors like Deako and Yeelight presented integrated solutions bridging lighting and home automation. The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and Light Can Help You, rounded out the pavilion with professional insights and unique designs utilizing many of these emerging technologies.
“CEDIA Expo/CIX is the singular venue for integrated systems within the home or commercial environment,” McGraw continued. “We were pleased to have had such a compelling array of exhibitors in Denver in September, and all signs point to another successful show in 2026!”
CEDIA Expo/CIX will return to Denver from Wednesday, September 2, to Friday, September 4, 2026.
