 Transformative Engineering Introduces HDS-12AVR,

A Plug & Play Device Integrating Full UHD4K with Legacy AVRs/Processors

Norwood, MA July 17, 2018 – Transformative Engineering (TransformativeEngineering.com) manufactures and sells the audio, video and data communications devices that are essential elements in the construction of high-end residential and commercial entertainment systems. While these devices may not be as glamorous as the big brand-name video displays and exotic AV processors, they are in many ways more essential to the overall performance and quality of the installed system.

The New HDS-12AVR incorporates many advanced technologies to accomplish distribution of (1) HDMI Ultra High Definition 4K source to two outputs.

One output is a full-resolution and the original format video presentation of your UHD4K HDMI input. The second output is designed to present full audio formats of your selected input, but with muted video (720p sync only). In addition, this audio signal, carried over HDMI, is presented with High Definition Copyright Protection (HDCP) and HDMI versions that will allow connection to a previous generation audio/video processor or AVR capable of handling HDMI1.4 with HDCP1.4.

The HDS-12AVR is plug & play: no settings, no knobs, no dials, no fuss.

The application design for this product is to connect a source utilizing HDCP2.2 to be fully enjoyed with a current UHD4K display capable of handling HDCP2.2, while transferring the audio only portion of the source to the Audio playback system, which is not capable of handling the HDCP2.2 and HDMI2.0 signals. Without this device, one would not be able to listen to the higher-level audio streams such as Dolby True HD and DTS Master, which are only available from the HDMI signal path. In fact, attempting to connect any HDMI2.0 signal (audio or video) into a legacy AVR/Processor will yield no output to the display or speakers.

Until now, your solution would have been to replace the client’s AVR/Processor.

We have an additional member of the HDS family that allows you to manage multiple HDCP2.2 sources (up to 4) and integrate into a control system. To learn more about the HDS-42AVR and the HDS-12AVR, visit

About Transformative Engineering:

Transformative Engineering (T-E) designs and manufactures audio, video, data communications devices and related components that are used by custom installers and systems integrators to create sophisticated home and commercial systems. These products are the result of its founders’ decisions to rethink the design and purpose of certain common-use custom installation and systems integration devices that were underperforming due to substandard quality. The company has grown out of the collaboration and enthusiasm of three veterans of the Consumer Electronics industry: Jay Trieber, President of Transformative Engineering and President of Home Theater Concepts; Peter Tribeman, TE’s VP of Marketing and President of Outlaw Audio; and Engne Tang, TE’s Chief Technology Officer and President of VAC-com, Inc.  Each of these three founders felt there was a “better mousetrap” to be built and the results would be enthusiastically received by the custom installers / systems integrator community.
